John joined George Carter & Co in 1968 and after serving articles with the firm was admitted as a solicitor in 1976. He was made a partner in 1979 and has been both senior partner and managing partner with the firm. He retired from the partnership in March 2010 but remains with the firm on a part time basis as a consultant. Throughout his career he has dealt with civil litigation and now focuses on professional negligence and property based civil litigation including the contentious side of Leasehold Reform work.
John is a passionate amateur magician and an Associate Member of The Inner Magic Circle with Silver Star, one of the highest accreditations in the world of magic, held by about 350 magicians worldwide. He has raised thousands of pounds for charities with his entertaining talk on the History of Magic. When he is not wielding his wand he can be found in obscure parts of the countryside searching for miss hit white, dimpled, spherical objects!
